Newsletter December 2016

Dear Parents/Carers

December has finally arrived and the Christmas festivities are already on the way here at Cranleigh Lodge. The children will be making calendars, Christmas cards and a Christmas decoration for the tree, out of salt dough, over the next month, as well as learning the true meaning of giving at Christmas. There will be lots of storytelling and excitement I am sure. As usual, there will be a Christmas post box located in the downstairs hall for children to send cards to their friends (and staff!!!)

Unfortunately, we have had to say goodbye to Emma, Rachel and Sue in November and December. Sue and Emma have decided to go to work in nurseries closer to home. Rachel has decided to leave childcare completely and become an Estate agent! Rachel’s last day will be Monday 28th November and Sue’s will be Monday 5th December. Emma left earlier in November. We wish all three of them the best of luck and they will be greatly missed by the staff, parents and children! As you know, part of Sue’s job was to cook the meals here at nursery which she will no longer be able to do. Therefore, as of Monday 5th December, Forerunner, an external catering company, will provide fresh meals every day and will cater for every dietary requirement. A copy of the December Menu is enclosed for your information. Menus will change each month. A dessert of fruit or yoghurt (or non-dairy equivalent) will be provided at every lunch.

A gentle reminder for parents to return the questionnaires we sent out a few weeks ago ASAP. So far we have only received 12 back out of almost 50 families! It is really important these are returned ASAP, not only to enable us to consider your suggestions and views but also to keep Ofsted happy!!! Part of our grading is judged on parental involvement.

It is not too late to donate to Children in Need for our “PJ” day that was held here on Friday 18th November. Please give any money to Hannah or Katie ASAP. As a nursery we have only raised £34 so far. Unfortunately out of 24 children attending that day, only 12 donated.  Thank you to all of those who contributed!

The children’s Christmas party is at the New Church Hall opposite nursery as normal on Friday 23rd December 14:00-16:00. There is a £5 ticket fee for children who are not normally in nursery on a Friday afternoon and you will be asked to stay with and be responsible for your child for the duration of the party. If you are unable to stay for a genuine work/family reason, but would like your child to attend, please speak to Hannah as soon as possible.  Children who normally attend nursery on a Friday afternoon will be able to purchase tickets for £3 and we will escort them to and from the hall. They may be collected from either the hall at 4pm or from nursery up until 6pm as usual. Please note, if your child normally attends nursery on a Friday, but you would NOT like them to come to the party, they will need to be collected from nursery by 1.45pm as there will be nobody staying in nursery to care for them during the party. Of course the party will include fun and games, a party tea and of course a visit from Santa! Tickets will be on sale from Monday 5th December. Unfortunately we will not have the availability for non-nursery siblings to attend.

TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS WILL BE PERMITTED AT THE CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY.

We will also be holding a Christmas raffle and drawing the tickets at the party. Tickets will be sent home in the next week or so, for you to purchase or sell if you wish. Please return your money with one half of the ticket and write your name, tel. number and the name of the child in nursery on the back. Of course to hold the raffle, we will need prizes so if anyone has any donations for it, please leave them in the office. Thank you.

Our next parent’s evening is Tuesday 24th January so please put this date in your diary. Appointment time slots will be made available in the New Year.

Please remember, the nursery will close at 6pm on the 23rd December 2016 for the Christmas break and we will re-open at 8am on Tuesday 3rd January 2017.

A quick note from Jo…..thank you everyone for your support over the last year. I am sure you will agree, the team work incredibly hard and I know many of you like to show your appreciation at Christmas. Any gifts that you would like to give to the staff team will be divided equally on Friday 23rd December. Thank you for showing your appreciation.
