December is nearly here and we are busy getting ready for one of our busiest (and favourite!) months of the year at nursery. You should all have received a Parentmail about the Christmas party – tickets are available now from the office. You also should all have received a new contract and fees structure for January by now. This contract needs to be signed and returned to nursery as soon as possible please so that we can update Famly with the new session times you require. We hope you all have a brilliant month leading up to Christmas – at nursey we can’t wait to get started on the Christmas craft activities and decorating the nursery!

Looking forward to next month
Next month we will mainly be focusing on Christmas themed activities! We will also be talking to the children about Hanukkah. This year all the children will be making a Christmas card and a 2019 calendar. We will also do a range of other Christmas themed craft activities but these will change each day and therefore depends on which days your child does. In Pre-school we will have a visit from Eddy the elf who will be hidden around the nursery each day throughout December for the children to find! We will also have a chocolate advent calendar in each room and the children will take it in turns to have a chocolate (we have dairy-free alternatives for those with allergies/intolerances). If you do not want your child to have an advent calendar chocolate, please let a member of staff know.
As mentioned in our previous newsletter, please make sure you bring your child to nursery in appropriate clothing to enable them to play outside – this includes providing a warm and waterproof coat and at least 2 changes of clothes, especially socks! We are also asking for parents to start bringing hats, gloves and scarves as the weather is getting colder. Please make sure all these items are named.
Children’s Christmas party
This year the children’s Christmas party will be taking place on Saturday 15th December 2-4pm. You should all have received an email with information about the party – if you haven’t, please speak to a member of staff. Tickets are available now from the office and need to be purchased by Wednesday 5th December. At the moment we are only able to accommodate one adult per child. Closer to the day we will have more of an understanding of how many people will be attending and we may be able to change this closer to the time. If you have requested a sibling space we will also let you know if we have room closer to the time. The children’s Christmas party takes place at the church hall opposite nursery and is always lots of fun!
Our next parents evening is due in January 2019. We will let you know the date towards the end of December, and as usual, a time slot can be booked with your child’s keyworker.
Children in need week
We had lots of fun raising money for Children in need and thank you so much to everyone who donated – we raised an amazing £126!
Christmas week closure
This year we are open Christmas Eve until 1pm. We are then closed over Christmas and New Year and will re-open Wednesday 2nd January at 7:30am. If your child normally attends nursery on a Monday but you will not be bringing them in on Christmas Eve, please let us know.
Staff training days – new for 2019
Next year the nursery will be closed for 3 days to focus on staff training. These days are Tuesday 26th February, Wednesday 19th June and Thursday 7th November 2019.
